World Series example

Hi everyone,

This week I went to the Little League World Series in Williamsport, Pa. It was exciting watching teams from around the world compete for the prize of champion. People in the stands showing their support by yelling, making signs, starting stadium waves, and by objecting to anyone saying a bad thing about  “their team.”  People who otherwise would not give the time of day to each other are now hugging each other and giving words of encouragement. I think there is a sermon illustration  here! What would our church look like if we showed that same support for our team, offered words of encouragement and hugged someone that was having a bad day. If 12-13 year old kids can draw people together, how much more should the love of Jesus draw us together?

  • The Lord’s Baseball Game

Freddy and The Lord stood by to observe the baseball game. The Lord’s Team was playing Satan’s team, it was the bottom of the 9th inning, score tied 0 -0, and The Lord’s Team was at bat.
As they watched the first batter came to the plate, whose name was LOVE. Love swung at the first putch and hit a single, because LOVE NEVER FAILS. The next batter was named FAITH, who also got a single, as FAITH WORKS WITH LOVE. Next, GODLY WISDOM came to the plate. Satan threw the first pitch, which Godly Wisdoem let pass by for ball one. Three pitches later, Godly Wisdom walked, because GODLY WISDOM NEVER SWINGS AT WHAT SATAN THROWS.
With the bases loaded, The Lord turned to Freddy and told him he was going to send his star player, GRACE, up to the plate. Freddy said, “he does not look like much”, and Satan’s whole team relaxed when they saw Grace.
Thinking he had won the game, Sata wound up and fired his first pitch. To every persons shock, Grace hit the ball harder than anyone had ever seen. But Sata was nto worried; his center fielder let very few get by. He went up for the ball, but it went through his glove, hit him on the head, sent him crashing to the ground, and continued over the fence for a Grand Slam, and The Lord’s team won!!!!!
When The Lord asked Freddy if he knew why Love, Faith, and Godly Wisdom could get on base but could not win the game, to which Freddy stated he did not know why that was so.
The Lord explained, “If your love, faith, and wisdon had won the game, you would think yoiu had done this by yourself. Love, Faith, and Godly Wisdom will get you on base. Only MY GRACE WILL GET YOU HOME”
