Unfortunately, the author is unknown to me so I cannot credit him or her properly.<\/p>\n<p>Still, I hope it gives you both a chuckle and an appreciation for the importance of seeing things from others&#8217; perspectives!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><em>Not long ago a farmer went to the city one weekend and attended the big city church. He came home and his wife asked him how it was. &#8220;Well,&#8221; said the farmer, &#8220;It was good. They did something different, however. They sang praise choruses instead of hymns.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>&#8220;Praise choruses?&#8221; said his wife, &#8220;What are those?&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>&#8220;Oh, they&#8217;re okay. They&#8217;re sort of like hymns, only different,&#8221; said the farmer.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>&#8220;&#8221;Well, what&#8217;s the difference?&#8221; asked his wife.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>The farmer said, &#8220;Well it&#8217;s like this &#8211; If I were to say to you:<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>`Martha, the cows are in the corn,&#8217; well that would be a hymn. If, on the other hand, I were to say to you:<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>`Martha Martha, Martha, Oh, Martha, Martha, Martha, Martha<\/em><br \/>\n<em>the cows, the big cows, the brown cows, the black cows,<\/em><br \/>\n<em>the white cows, the black and white cows,<\/em><br \/>\n<em>the cows, cows, cows are in the corn,<\/em><br \/>\n<em>are in the corn, are in the corn, are in the corn,<\/em><br \/>\n<em>the corn, corn, corn.&#8217;<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Then, if I were to repeat the whole thing two or three times, well that would be a praise chorus.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>A young, new Christian from the big city attended the small town church one weekend. He came home and his wife asked him how it was.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>&#8220;Well,&#8221; said the young man, &#8220;It was good. They did something different, however. If, on the other hand, I were to say to you:<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Oh Martha, dear Martha, hear thou my cry<\/em><br \/>\n<em>Inclinest thine ear to the words of my mouth.<\/em><br \/>\n<em>Turn thou thy whole wondrous ear by and by<\/em><br \/>\n<em>To the righteous, inimitable, glorious truth.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>For the way of the animals who can explain<\/em><br \/>\n<em>There in their heads is no shadow of sense,<\/em><br \/>\n<em>Hearkenest they in God&#8217;s sun or his rain<\/em><br \/>\n<em>Unless from the mild, tempting corn they are fenced.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Yea those cows in glad bovine, rebellious delight,<\/em><br \/>\n<em>Have broke free their shackles, their warm pens eschewed.<\/em><br \/>\n<em>Then goaded by minions of darkness and night<\/em><br \/>\n<em>They all my mild Chilliwack sweet corn have chewed.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>So look to that bright shining day by and by,<\/em><br \/>\n<em>Where all foul corruptions of earth are reborn.<\/em><br \/>\n<em>Where no vicious animal makes my soul cry<\/em><br \/>\n<em>And I no longer see those foul cows in the corn.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Then, if I were to do only verses one, three, and four and do a key change on the last verse, well that would be a hymn.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><\/em><\/p>\n<p>Praise the Lord for our unity as we successfully embrace both styles (but I do promise no new songs&#8211; in either style&#8211;about cows or corn)!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Greetings, Church!
